How Spray Foam Insulation Allegan Works

Spray Foam Insulation Allegan insulates and air seals homes, cottages, basements, pole barns and farm buildings across Allegan County. We spray closed-cell and open-cell foam, seal and insulate attics, fill the walls of old houses, insulate rim joists, basements and crawl spaces, and remove insulation that has failed.

Allegan County has some of the oldest housing in West Michigan. In the city of Allegan itself, more than four in ten homes were built before 1940, and towns like Otsego, Hopkins and Saugatuck are not far behind. Those houses were built with no wall insulation, and their attics, rim joists and fieldstone or block foundations leak cold air all winter. Out in the townships, pole barns, dairy and poultry buildings and steel shops are everywhere. So every job starts with a visit: we look at the attic, the basement or crawl space, the walls and the wiring before we suggest anything.

Then you get a written quote. Each area is its own line with the material, the thickness or depth, the target R-value and the price. Foam is the right answer on a rim joist or a steel building, but it is not always the cheapest way to insulate an open attic floor, and we tell you when blown-in or dense-pack does the job for less.

How we run a job

  • Look first. No price until we have seen the spaces.
  • Wiring and moisture first. Knob-and-tube wiring, roof leaks and wet basements are flagged before anything gets covered.
  • Seal, then insulate. Air leaks are closed before insulation goes over them.
  • Protect the house. Floors and belongings are covered and the work area is ventilated.
  • Changes in writing. Anything that changes after we start is agreed on and written down first.

Who calls us

Owners of old village houses with cold walls and drafty floors. Cottage owners along the lakeshore who want to use the place into the fall or year-round. Farmers and hobbyists who want a heated shop or a dry barn. Buyers whose inspection turned up thin attic insulation or a bare rim joist.
